To mark International Women’s Day, we spoke to our Head of HR, Karen Grace, about the support and opportunities we offer to the women in our team, and why Jenx is a great place to start your career.
At Jenx equal opportunities are an essential part of everything we do, and deeply rooted in our culture. With a Board comprised of 50% women we stand out amongst manufacturing businesses.
Karen said: “There’s a lot of freedom and autonomy in roles at Jenx. The way that we recruit and coach our team has received a great response from our female workforce, particularly younger women who are at the start of their careers.
“Director, Holly Jenkins is a firm believer in fostering a friendly and supportive environment where people can thrive. Holly leads this strategy and has worked alongside the management team to instil these values as a core element of the culture at Jenx.
Having strong female representation on our Board and in our Senior Management team gives us a good balance and ensures that all viewpoints are valued. Inclusivity in all its forms plays a big part in what we do and who we are at Jenx, standing us in good stead for creating a positive workplace culture that our team enjoys.”
We are proud to offer opportunities to women looking to forge a career in engineering, giving equal-opportunities to women in this traditionally male-dominated industry.
Karen added: “Our workplace values are very much aligned with our company values, which are to make a difference to children with postural support needs and support them as they grow. In the same way, we want to support the women in our teams as they grow and give them opportunities to progress their careers in industries that we know from the statistics are still male-dominated.”
Karen highlights the unique culture at Jenx, which makes it a friendly, supportive place to work and a fantastic place for the next generation of apprentices and graduates to start their career.
She said: “We encourage people to have the confidence to share ideas of how we can improve the working environment and not be afraid to make mistakes. At the same time, we want to challenge them to achieve their goals and, empower them to progress into roles, particularly where we are raising up the next generation of women industry.”
